The Editorial is my little place where you see my opinion about whatever it is that happens to be on my mind. It's probably more of a rant than anything else, but I would like to see some constructive stuff being thrown forth by this "platform," too.

Well, it's a new site. Along with a new design, a few new features have been added. One of those is this thing, the "Editorial." It's a fancy word for just a generic message board post or something. But, since it's on the site, I figured I might as well use it.

Some quick site updates that were not on the previous one: this Editorial is one. Another is the Cast listing, which tells a little about each character that appears inside of these stores. Another new feature is the photography that you see throughout the site. Right now, there's a stock of 20 some-odd pictures. I hope to be adding more in time, but for the introduction of the site, I decided to just go with the original roll that I had taken.

A message board has also been added to the site. Use it if you like. Don't if you don't want to. It's just there if you happen to want to post something. If you want to plug something, do it inside of the optional link space in the posting area. Do not post just wild shills on there. If you do, they'll just be free reign for whatever anyone cares to say about them.

Onto the actual writing part….

My mind isn't really sure what I need to discuss, seeing as how it's the introductory issue. So, I guess… why not talk about e-feds? More importantly, why not share some things that go on in e-feds that I'm always thinking and discussing to a few others.

First off, I really wish everyone would use their real name in e-feds. No, not join a fed with your character being "Frank Jones (or whatever your birth name might be)," but whenever NOT doing a roleplay/chapter/flash/interview/short story, I wish the writers would just use their real name. There is nothing more annoying than seeing a bunch of kids running around, posting on everything with an alias being that of their e-fed character. Grow up, please. I really don't care who your character is, and by having your alias as your character, I know instantly what type of person probably writes that character. I can show so much more respect to someone if they learn to differentiate themselves from their character.

And here's another thing… why do people refer to their character as "me" or "I"? The wrestler is just a fictional character… the writer is NOT the wrestler, so why the first person tense when talking of the character? "Yeah, I won the World title. I kicked High Flyer's ass." Nooooo… your character won the title. You did nothing except write about it. It's a huge perspective problem that many have not grasped in e-feds. And as long as the "me factor" is around, it will continue to serve as a reminder of all the immaturity in e-feds.

When you see an actor discussing their latest movie, do they ever refer to themselves as the one who experienced everything in the movie? No, they constantly refer to their role in the third person. It's as simple as that, but a concept that has yet to make it's way over to the e-fed world.

My name is Andy. Please call me Andy, not Zero. If I would be called Zero because of him being a character I write, then why am I never referred to as Matt… or Erica… or Theodore? They're all equal characters inside of the stories that I write. It'd be much easier if you just called me "Andy." After all, that is my name.

Ok, I am going to wrap it up right there. Being the introduction Editorial, I wanted to go ahead and discuss the number one thing that I'd probably bitch about or call someone on while doing the "e-fed rounds." Next time, it'll probably be something more... well... constructive. But from time to time, I plan on using this area as a general rant section for things going on in e-feds that just make the whole hobby a children's playground.

Later...

Andy
